ChatRaj vs Landbot: hosted RAG bot, or no-code visual builder?

Landbot is a no-code visual builder for marketing flows, surveys, and WhatsApp campaigns. ChatRaj is a hosted RAG-from-content chatbot for websites. This page picks them apart category by category, including the rows where Landbot wins outright.

Read the analysis
Bottom line
Pick ChatRaj if you want a hosted website chatbot that reads your existing content and answers visitor questions in grounded prose for a flat monthly fee. Pick Landbot if you want a no-code visual canvas to design conversational lead-capture flows, run WhatsApp Business campaigns, or build form-style surveys with branching logic. Both can technically capture leads, but they solve different jobs and the right answer depends almost entirely on whether your bot needs to retrieve answers or guide a conversation.

Quick verdict: different jobs, same search bucket

Landbot and ChatRaj both appear when you search for "AI chatbot for my website", but they are not interchangeable. Treating them as direct substitutes wastes evaluation cycles, so the first job of this page is to separate the categories before anyone looks at price.

Landbot is a no-code visual chatbot builder. Its centre of gravity is a drag-and-drop canvas where you drop blocks for messages, questions, conditions, API calls, and AI agent nodes, then draw arrows between them to design exactly how a conversation should branch. The product is built around marketing use cases: conversational lead-capture, quizzes, surveys, appointment booking, and most prominently, WhatsApp Business API campaigns. The visual UI is genuinely well executed and is the reason Landbot has been a favourite of marketing teams since 2017.

ChatRaj is a hosted SaaS chatbot for websites. There is no canvas, no blocks, and no arrows. You paste a URL, ChatRaj crawls your site, builds a hybrid (semantic plus keyword) retrieval index over the content, and serves grounded answers through an embeddable widget. Pricing is flat per month for a fixed message quota: Pro at twenty-nine dollars for ten thousand messages, Growth at ninety-nine dollars for fifty thousand. There is no flow designer because there is no flow.

The shape difference matters. Landbot asks the question "what should this conversation do next?" and gives you a canvas to answer it. ChatRaj asks the question "what does the visitor want to know?" and gives you a retriever to answer it. Both are valid jobs. Most teams need exactly one of them, not both.

Landbot strengths: visual canvas, WhatsApp, marketing-team friendly

The case for Landbot is not subtle. Three structural advantages keep showing up in real evaluations.

First, the visual builder. Landbot's canvas is one of the most polished no-code bot builders on the market, and that polish is why marketing teams without engineers can ship working bots in an afternoon. Each block is a discrete action: send a message, ask a question, save a variable, branch on a condition, call a webhook, jump to a sub-flow. You wire blocks together by drawing arrows, and the visual structure of the flow on the canvas matches the structure of the conversation a visitor will experience. For multi-step lead-capture (name, then email, then company size, then route to a sales rep), this is exactly the right tool.

Second, WhatsApp Business API. Landbot has invested heavily in WhatsApp since the channel became a serious marketing surface, and the product reflects that. There are dedicated WhatsApp plans starting around eighty euros per month, opt-in widgets for the website, broadcast campaign tooling, message template management, and a flow runtime that respects the WhatsApp twenty-four-hour session window. If your bot strategy is built around WhatsApp, Landbot is one of the best tools in its category and ChatRaj cannot compete on that axis.

Third, marketing-team friendliness. Landbot is a marketing tool, not an engineering tool. The pricing pages talk about chats and AI chats, not tokens. The integrations list leads with HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Calendly, and Google Sheets, not vector databases and LLM providers. The customer base skews toward agencies and in-house marketing teams running paid campaigns to conversational landing pages. If your evaluation is being run by a marketing manager rather than a developer, Landbot is going to feel like home in a way that more engineering-shaped tools (including ChatRaj, frankly) will not.

A fourth, softer strength: the template gallery. Landbot ships dozens of pre-built flow templates for common marketing jobs (lead-gen, NPS surveys, demo bookings, quiz funnels), and starting from a template instead of a blank canvas removes a real chunk of the activation friction. ChatRaj has nothing equivalent because ChatRaj does not have a canvas to put a template on.

ChatRaj strengths: hosted, RAG-from-content default, flat pricing

The case for ChatRaj is also not subtle, but it is narrower.

ChatRaj is built around one assumption: most people who want an "AI chatbot for my website" actually want a thing that reads their existing content and answers visitor questions about it. They do not want to design a conversation tree. They do not want to wire condition blocks. They want a widget that already knows their pricing page, their FAQ, their docs, and their blog, and that responds in coherent prose with citations.

That assumption shapes the whole product. The default flow is paste URL, wait for crawl, paste the widget script, done. Hybrid retrieval (BM25-style keyword plus vector semantic search) runs out of the box, so the first answers a visitor gets are already grounded in your site content rather than the model's pre-training. There is no flow to design because there is no flow. The bot reads, retrieves, answers, and cites.

Hosted means zero ops. You do not run a database. You do not patch a runtime. You do not pay for a vector database, an LLM API key, a Redis instance, and a CDN. You pay one monthly fee. The hosting cost, model cost, and embedding cost all collapse into that fee. For a small marketing team or a solo founder, this is the difference between shipping a bot in twenty minutes and shipping nothing.

Pricing is flat and predictable. Pro is twenty-nine dollars per month for ten thousand messages, Growth is ninety-nine dollars per month for fifty thousand messages, and there are no per-conversation overages stacking on top, no separate AI chat allowance to keep an eye on, and no per-channel add-ons. If you go over a quota you upgrade a tier. There is no surprise invoice.

Speed of setup is the other piece. A ChatRaj bot from sign-up to "answering questions on a real production page" usually takes well under an hour, often closer to fifteen minutes. A Landbot project to roughly the same level of usefulness on a content-heavy site typically takes a day or more of canvas work, because you have to manually design the question handling for whatever you anticipate visitors asking. The Landbot canvas does not crawl your site for you.

When Landbot is the right call

Several scenarios point to Landbot, not ChatRaj. Take them seriously; if any of these describe you, Landbot is the better fit and this page will not try to talk you out of it.

You need a conversational lead-capture flow. A multi-step form disguised as a chat: ask for name, then email, then company size, then qualifying question, then route based on the answer. A visual builder is the right shape of tool for this and ChatRaj is not.

You need WhatsApp as a primary channel. ChatRaj does not currently deploy to WhatsApp. Landbot does, and the WhatsApp product is one of the better ones in the market, with broadcast campaigns, template management, and opt-in widgets included.

You are running paid traffic to a conversational landing page. Landbot's whole product surface is shaped around this use case. The canvas, the analytics, the integrations with ad platforms, and the template gallery all support the "spin up a campaign, A/B test the flow, track conversion" cycle.

You are a marketing team without engineering support. Landbot is genuinely no-code in a way that matters. ChatRaj is also no-code at the basic level (paste a URL, paste a script), but if you want to customise behaviour you reach a developer-shaped product faster than Landbot does.

You are running surveys, quizzes, or NPS flows conversationally. The template gallery and the visual builder make this the path of least resistance, and the form-style conversational UI Landbot is known for is exactly what these use cases want.

When ChatRaj is the right call

The picture flips when the job is narrower and less interactive.

You have a website. You want a widget on it. The widget should answer visitor questions from your existing content. You do not want to design a flow, do not want to manage a separate AI chat allowance, do not want to pay overage fees per chat, and do not want to spend a day on the canvas. You want a flat predictable monthly bill. You want it live this afternoon. That sentence is the ChatRaj target customer almost word for word, and for that customer ChatRaj is faster, cheaper, and less work than Landbot by a wide margin.

Concretely, ChatRaj wins for SaaS marketing sites with a docs subdomain, e-commerce stores that want pre-sales question and answer on product pages, service businesses (clinics, agencies, contractors) that want after-hours intake and FAQ deflection, and solo founders or small content teams who need a chatbot but have no spare hours to spend on a canvas.

Pricing math at SMB and growth scale

Pricing comparisons between these two products are tricky because the unit economics are different. Landbot bills in chats with a separate AI chat allowance and overage fees on top; ChatRaj bills in flat message quotas with no separate AI bucket. Two worked examples.

Small marketing site, around two thousand five hundred chats per month and some AI involvement. Landbot Pro is around eighty euros per month annual (one hundred euros monthly) for two thousand five hundred chats and a capped AI chat allowance. If your visitors ask AI-heavy questions and you blow past the AI chat allowance, overage fees apply at around ten cents per extra AI chat. ChatRaj Pro at twenty-nine dollars per month covers ten thousand messages with no AI versus non-AI distinction. At this volume ChatRaj is roughly two to three times cheaper and has more headroom, but Landbot gives you the visual builder, WhatsApp option, and template gallery that ChatRaj does not have.

Growth-stage team, around ten thousand chats per month split between web and WhatsApp. Landbot WhatsApp Pro is around two hundred euros per month for two thousand five hundred web chats plus ten thousand WhatsApp messages. ChatRaj Growth is ninety-nine dollars per month for fifty thousand messages, but only on the web widget; ChatRaj does not currently do WhatsApp. So at this volume the comparison is not really apples to apples: if you need WhatsApp at all, Landbot is the only one of the two that can do the job, and the price gap is irrelevant.

Honest read: at the same web-only message volume, ChatRaj is cheaper, often substantially. The moment WhatsApp, broadcast campaigns, or a complex visual flow enters the picture, Landbot is the only one of the two that does the job and price is no longer the deciding factor.

Migration path from Landbot to ChatRaj

A migration only makes sense if the original Landbot bot was doing the job ChatRaj does, which is "answering visitor questions from website content". Bots built around lead-capture flows, WhatsApp broadcasts, or quizzes should not be migrated; they should stay on Landbot. The migration below assumes a content-answering bot that has drifted into being more trouble than it is worth on the Landbot canvas.

The five-step process is in the section below. Short version: identify which Landbot flows are content-answering versus flow-shaped, point ChatRaj at the same source URLs, validate that the new answers match expectations on real questions from the Landbot transcript logs, swap the widget, and decommission the relevant Landbot flows.

What ChatRaj does NOT have that Landbot does (rows where Landbot wins)

This section exists because most self-comparison content lies by omission. ChatRaj does not have the following, and if you need any of them, Landbot is the answer.

  • A no-code visual flow builder. There is no canvas, no blocks, no arrows in ChatRaj.
  • WhatsApp Business API channel. ChatRaj is a website widget only. No WhatsApp.
  • A template gallery for marketing use cases (lead-gen, surveys, quizzes, NPS, demo booking).
  • Broadcast campaign tooling for WhatsApp.
  • A form-style conversational UI optimised for guided multi-step lead capture.
  • Native integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, and the rest of the marketing-stack short list at the same depth Landbot has.
  • Messenger as a channel.

If two or more of those are real requirements for your team, stop reading and go set up a Landbot account. That is the honest call.

If none of them are requirements and the job is "read my website and answer questions about it", ChatRaj is faster, cheaper, and less work, and the rest of the page applies.

Migration steps from Landbot

5 steps. Most operators finish in 60 seconds.

  1. Inventory your Landbot bots

List every Landbot flow in your workspace. Tag each one as 'website content question answering' (a ChatRaj-shaped job) or 'lead-capture flow, WhatsApp campaign, survey, or quiz' (a Landbot-shaped job). Only the first category should migrate. Lead-capture flows, WhatsApp broadcasts, and quiz funnels should stay on Landbot because ChatRaj does not have the canvas or the channels to host them.

  2. Export your content sources

From the Landbot canvas, list the URLs and documents the bot was answering from. If the answers were hand-written into message blocks rather than retrieved from real content, export the message text and treat it as a fresh content source you can publish on your site or feed to ChatRaj directly. ChatRaj re-ingests from the original sources, which keeps the bot fresh as the underlying content evolves.

  3. Create a ChatRaj account and add the same sources

Sign up at chatraj.ai, create a new bot, and paste the same root URLs your Landbot flows were referencing. ChatRaj will crawl, chunk, and index the content using hybrid retrieval. For uploaded documents, drop them into the same bot's source list. The first crawl typically completes in a few minutes for sites under a few hundred pages and scales linearly from there.

  4. Validate answers against real Landbot transcripts

Pull twenty real questions from your Landbot conversation transcripts. Ask each one of the new ChatRaj bot and the old Landbot bot in parallel. Score answers for correctness, citation quality, and tone match. ChatRaj's defaults are tuned for grounded, cited answers from the indexed content, so most content-shaped questions should score equal or better. Tweak the persona prompt for tone matching if the brand voice needs adjusting.

  5. Swap the widget and downgrade Landbot

Replace the Landbot webchat snippet in your site templates with the ChatRaj snippet. Leave both running in parallel for a week if you want belt-and-braces validation, then remove the Landbot script. Downgrade your Landbot account to the free Sandbox tier (or cancel entirely) if you no longer need Landbot for lead-capture flows, WhatsApp campaigns, or quizzes. Keep the account if any flow-shaped or WhatsApp-shaped bots still belong on the canvas.

Hosted RAG bot vs no-code visual flow builder

Line-by-line tradeoffs, with the rows where Landbot legitimately wins called out plainly.

The plugin approach

Other Landbot chatbot tools

Typical when you install a WordPress plugin, Shopify app, or third-party chatbot widget.

  • No-code visual flow builder: Mature drag-and-drop canvas with message, question, condition, API, and AI agent blocks. The product is built around it.
  • RAG from website content: Possible by manually wiring AI agent blocks to a knowledge source, but you design the retrieval flow yourself.
  • WhatsApp Business API channel: Dedicated WhatsApp plans starting around 80 euros per month with broadcast campaigns, opt-in widgets, and message template management.
  • Facebook Messenger channel: Included on the Starter tier and above.
  • Marketing template gallery: Dozens of pre-built flows for lead-gen, NPS, quizzes, demo booking, surveys.
  • Hosted SaaS, zero ops: Yes. Landbot is hosted SaaS only.
  • Pricing model: Tiered chat quotas plus a separate AI chat allowance, with overages billed per extra chat. Starter 40 euros/mo, Pro around 100 euros/mo.
  • Setup time to first useful answer: Hours to a day on the canvas, depending on flow complexity and template starting point.
  • Form-style conversational UI for lead capture: Native. This is the visual signature Landbot is known for.
  • Citations on every answer: Available if you build the citation logic into the flow yourself.
The ChatRaj approach

One script tag. Everything bundled.

Hosted, configured, and maintained by us. You add a single line to your site.

  • No-code visual flow builder: No canvas. ChatRaj is retrieval-driven, not flow-driven.
  • RAG from website content: Hybrid retrieval (semantic plus keyword) on by default the moment you add a source URL.
  • WhatsApp Business API channel: Not supported. Website widget only.
  • Facebook Messenger channel: Not supported. Website widget only.
  • Marketing template gallery: No flows means no flow templates. The bot is configured by source URLs, not templates.
  • Hosted SaaS, zero ops: Yes. Hosted by default. No database, runtime, or model keys to manage.
  • Pricing model: Flat per-message quota with no AI versus non-AI split. Pro $29/mo for 10k messages, Growth $99/mo for 50k.
  • Setup time to first useful answer: Minutes. Paste URL, wait for crawl, paste widget script.
  • Form-style conversational UI for lead capture: Not the right shape of tool. ChatRaj is for question answering, not guided form filling.
  • Citations on every answer: On by default. Every answer links back to the source page it was retrieved from.
FAQ: ChatRaj vs Landbot

Common questions about the decision

ChatRaj Growth is ninety-nine dollars per month flat for fifty thousand messages, so ten thousand messages is well inside the Pro tier at twenty-nine dollars per month. Landbot at ten thousand web chats per month sits comfortably in the Pro tier at around one hundred euros monthly (eighty euros annual), with AI chat overages billed separately at around ten cents per AI chat above the bundled allowance. ChatRaj is roughly three to four times cheaper on web-only volume at this scale.
